ELEMENTAL'S LATEST POLICY AND RISK MANAGEMENT PRODUCT EARNS 'EXCELLENT' RATING AWARD FROM INFOWORLD TEST CENTER
Enhanced Policy Management, Platform Support and Reporting Earn the Elemental Security Platform v2.0 InfoWorld's Highest Review Rating to Date in 2006
SAN MATEO, Calif. – April 12, 2006 – Elemental Security, Inc., an award-winning pioneer of new technology in enterprise information security, today announced that the Elemental Security Platform (ESP) v2.0 has earned a prestigious “Excellent” Rating award from InfoWorld Media Group, responsible for delivering award-winning technology and product news, research and analysis to the IT community for more than 25 years.
The InfoWorld Test Center provides in-depth technical analysis on key products, solutions, and technologies for sound buying decisions and business gain. As a result of its technical labs review, Elemental also received a 9.3 score out of a possible 10, the highest rating given to a product reviewed in the Test Center so far in 2006. According to InfoWorld, a rating of “Excellent” recognizes companies whose products are reviewed and receive a score of 8.7 or higher based on a list of criteria most relevant to enterprise buying decisions. Receiving an “Excellent” Rating assures IT professionals of a product’s quality and market readiness before they make a purchase. According to InfoWorld, “System admins used to only dream about knowing exactly which devices were on their network and controlling what resources those devices were accessing. There has been an explosion of products announced and released during the past few months aimed at providing this highly sought view of traffic flows and hosts, as well as tools to enforce network policies. One of the more mature solutions is ESP (Elemental Security Platform) 2.0…The entire system is very dynamic, constantly providing IT with updated information on known and unknown hosts…Version 2.0 is poised to be more of an underlying security infrastructure, providing host assessment and policy information to other systems.”
“Last year, Elemental set the standard for providing host compliancy checks and insight into network traffic patterns,” the review continued. “Now, ESP broadens its reach to include more client and server platforms and increases the number of agents a single ESP server can handle. Still impressive is the granular policy deployment and the amount of raw information the agents report back to the server. Elemental Security Platform 2.0 has just raised the bar a little higher.”
“InfoWorld is a leader in delivering in-depth coverage and evaluation of IT products, especially for executives who have significant technology expertise and experience,” said Elemental CEO Peter Watkins. “Following last year’s successful launch of version 1.0 and the good industry traction it earned, ESP 2.0 is receiving tremendous customer response. It’s rewarding to receive this top rating from InfoWorld, and continued industry validation that a host-level approach to policy and risk management delivers a critical solution to address enterprises’ security and compliance concerns.”
Elemental provides the world’s only security policy system built from the ground up to make the state and activity of users and computers fully transparent, enabling customers to directly translate their business objectives into specific policies for all users and systems on their networks. Elemental unifies policy management, host configuration, inventory/discovery and role-based access control in one seamlessly integrated offering. Using Elemental, security administrators can easily assess the security posture of machines and networks, and make proactive decisions about managing risk. Security policy and compliance management continue to be top priorities due to increasing frequency and severity of security breaches, and regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
